Dormancy and Maturity in the Bulbil of Lilium lancifolium
Roh Seung-Moon

Abstract
The matured Lilium lancifolium bulbil was harvested and was given 4¡É treatment(CD), gibberellic acid (GA©ý), and abscisic acid(ABA) treatments.
Sprouting was accelerated by 30 CD or longer duration which was further promoted by GA©ý. However, ABA treatment at 100 and 200 ppm delayed sprouting and nullify the CD effect. Intercalation of 27¡É in between the two separated 15 CD accelerated sprouting response greatly and partially counteracted the ABA inhibition.
Although the effect of exogenous hormones on sprouting was very clear, the endogenous growth substances could be carefully related to the treatment and the response. However, dark brown pigments (Rf 0.0¡0.2) in the aqueous fraction and ABA-like substances (Rf 0.8¡1.0) and two other inhibitors (Rf 0.0¡0.2 and 0.5¡¾0.1) in the ethyl acetate fraction are the responsible endogenous growth substances for dormancy.
I suggest that the bulbil of L. lancifolium is an ideal plant material to study the dormancy and maturity.
